Jeaniene has been very involved in this fansite and has graciously shared plenty of info. Here’s some of the extras she gave us about At Grave‘s End.
INTIMACY & JEALOUSY
I do understand the question of a threesome, foursome, etc., because Cat had that same concern herself when she found out about Bones’s history. Still, it’s one of those things I don’t mind saying up front, “No, not this series.”
Something you’ll see in the next book (or two), and hopefully without me making it a big infodump, is how Bones was never jealous before Cat. All vampires are territorial, yes, but Bones had never considered another woman to be “his” in the sense of a romantic relationship before Cat. Which is why he had no issue with sharing women in the past, like Annette, with other women or men. Bones was territiorial over his people in the sense that he would protect them if they were threatened, but personal jealousy is something new to him. And because it’s new to him [mild spoiler hint at things to come], he’s not going to handle it with the same cool aplomb that he handles other things he’s been well experienced with.
And not all of the exes will be as antagonistic as Annette was at first. The common trend of the “evil ex girlfriend” in books has always made me wonder – why? If the hero isn’t a moron, you’d think he would have dated at least ONE nice chick. So some of the women Cat will meet that had a history with Bones will be really nice. Some won’t. But there will be a mix of good exes/bad exes, not all just bad exes (and besides, I don’t see Annette as “bad”. She’s just assertive, crafty, and not willing to give up Bones without a fight. Can you blame her?)
ABOUT THE TITLE
AT GRAVE’S END wasn’t specifically chosen to represent things that happen in the book, though I will say that the final battle in the book does make me grin at the title . I already know what will happen with Cat, whether she changes into a vampire or stays a half-breed. I’m just not telling yet.
AT GRAVE’S END COVER
My editor just sent me the mock-up of the cover and Oh. My. God. WAIT until you guys see this! I think it’s the hottest cover yet out of my books, and that’s saying something. I don’t have permission to share it yet, but you can be sure once I do, I’ll be plastering it everywhere. It’s so cool!
MORE JUSTINA IN AT GRAVE’S END
Without getting into spoilers, you get a small insight into her mindset in One Foot in the Grave. This may not make her any more popular (I get fan mail that literally says, “Love Cat, but kill her mother!”), but Justina does get a little more screen time in book three. I can’t wait to see what everyone thinks about a scene with Justina once it comes out *evil chuckle*.
