I have a couple of addictions, coffee, music and reading (depending on the day, those vary in importance). I joke that iTunes has a statue built in my honor. I always check out the recommended music on the home page. Framing Hanley was on there and I pulled them up and started checking out the songs. When Alone in this Bed came up, 30 seconds wasn't enough. I bought the song and listened from beginning to end and was gobsmacked. It was like the writers had read OFITG and had written it with Bones in mind.

Still Remains by Stone Temple Pilots.
Ever since I read my first Cat & Bones book this song has come to mind as sung by Bones to Cat. I also thought that Love Song - either by The Cure or re-done by 311 would work and I see that Jeaniene had the same thing in mind. I could imagine Bones liking the original performed by The Cure - the bloody Brit

Taylor Swift's song 'sparks fly' reminds me of HTTG

Postby Cinders » 26 Oct 2010, 04:00

I just got my copy of Taylor Swift's new album Speak Now, and the song 'sparks fly' really reminds me of the relationship between Cat and Bones in Halfway to the Grave.

Here are the lyrics, let me know what you think!

Sparks Fly

The way you move is like a full on rainstorm
and I'm a house of cards
You're the kind of reckless that should
send me running but
I kinda know that I won't get far

And you stood there in front of me just
Close enough to touch
Close enough to hope you couldn't see
What I was thinking of

Chorus :
Drop everything now
Meet me in the pouring rain
Kiss me on the sidewalk
Take away the pain
cause I see, sparks fly whenever you smile

Get me with those green eyes, baby
As the lights go down
Give me something that'll haunt me when you're not around
cause I see, sparks fly whenever you smile

My mind forgets to remind me
you're a bad idea
you touch me once and it's really seomething
you find I'm even better than
you imagined I would be

I'm on my guard for the rest of the world
But with you I know it's no good
And I could wait patiently
But I really wish you would

Chorus

I'll run my fingers through your hair
And watch the lights go wild
Just keep on keeping your eyes on me
It's just wrong enough to make it feel right
And lead me up the staircase
Won't you whisper soft and slow
I'm captivated by you baby like a fireworks show

Chorus

Here are a few songs that I think fit the books...

What do you want from me by Adam Lambert - Cat and Bone from Halfway to the Grave and first half of One Foot in the Grave
Apologize by One Republic - Bones Destined for an Early Grave when Cat returns from going to Gregor.

These are the songs that came to my mind when I read the books...took me an hour to look up all the titles while scanning the books lol

HTTG:
-"Eyes on fire" by Blue Foundation (when they first meet at the bar)
-"Sex and candy" by Marcy Playground (second meeting)
-"Building a mystery" by Sarah McLachlan (after meeting the ghost)
-"Go all the way" by Perry Farrel (first kiss on the dance floor)
-"Look after you" by The Fray (Kiss while Bones buries Hennessey's guard)
-"Gravity" by Sara Bareilles (first time they have sex)
-"Never say never" by The Fray (when they have sex in the motel before the big fight)
-"Merchant of death" from Iron Man (Bones rescues Cat from FBI)
-"Almost Lover" by A Fine Frenzy (when Cat says goodbye to Bones)
-"I will remember you" by Sarah McLachlan (when Cat thinks of Bones)
-"Some day" by Nickelback (closing)

OFITG:
-"Here without you" by 3 Doors Down (Cat finds the watch)
-"Iris" by Goo Goo Dolls (Tate kisses Cat after the party)
-"Say what you want" by Texas + "Cryin'" by Aerosmith (wedding)
-"What goes around comes around" Justin Timberlake (Cat sees Bones kissing Felicity)
-"He's a dream" by Shandi (dance floor scene) I know it's an old song!
-"Wait for you" by Elliott Yamin (Cat wakes up at Bones' and talk about their relationship)
-"Be Be your love" by Rachael Yamagata (When the team confronts Cat about dating Bones)
-"Broken" by Lifehouse (first sex scene)
-"Feelin' Love" by Paula Cole (chapter 32)

AGE:
-"Love Remains the same" by Gavin Rossdale (proposal)
-"Watermark" by Enya (Tate changes over)
-"Oh Holy night" by Kelly Clarckson (limo scene) I don't know why, but that scene makes me think of this song.
-"Firestarter" by Prodigy (Cat vs. Vlad)
-"Angel" by Sarah McLachlan (Cat finds out Bones is dead)
-"My immortal" by Evanescence (Cat nights alone with box)
-"Flightless bird, American mouth" by Iron& Wine (Bones comes back)
-"New Divide" by Linkin Park (vampires+ ghouls vs. zombies)
-"Try not to remember" by Sheryl Crow (final scene) THIS SONG IS PERFECT!

DFAEG:
-"Uninvited" by Alanis Morissette (first dream)
-"Kiss with a fist" by Florence+ the Machine (Cat vs. Bones)
-"I love rock'n'roll" by Joan Jett + "U+ Ur hand" by Pink (bar with bull)
-"Come home" by OneRepublic (Cat wakes up without Bones)
-"Leave out all the rest" by Linkin Park (Cat goes to Gregor)
-"Sorry" by Buckcherry (Bones leaves Cat)
-"Take me home" by Lisbeth Scott (Cat leaves with Vlad)
-"Better off alone" by Katherine McPhee (Cat at Vlad's)
-"Not ready to make nice" by Dixie Chicks (Cat flies away from compound)
-"Halo" by Beyonce' (Cat lets Bones read her mind)
-"Who wants to live forever" by Sarah Brightman (Cat crosses over)
-"Fever Dream" by Tyler Bates (Cat sets Gregor on fire after he kills Rodney)
-"Lucky man" by The Verve (Bones prepares to fight)
-"Angels" by Robbie Williams (everyone gathers for the fight)
-"Tennessee" from Pearl Harbor (Cat is dragged away by guards)
Overall I think "Bring me to life" by Evanescence would be a great song for this book.

Add:

How do I Live from the Pearl Harbor ST. It's good for after Cat leaves in HTTG & goes to Gregor in DFAEG from Bones AND for when Bones leaves Cat in DFAEG.

Okay I know Broadway isn't something a lot of people like... BUT was listening to the Concept album for The Scarlet Pimpernell and there is one song that totally fits Cat at the end of HTTG, the night before she leaves Bones. It's slow ballad.

I'll Forget You sung by Linda Elder

I'll forget you
the more you stay inside of me the
weaker I grow
I'll forget you
tomorrow I will turn and let you go
I'll grow colder
I'll lose myself in anything but you now
for there is nothing I can do now
but forget

I'll forget you
I won't remember arms that pulled me in soft
and slow
I'll forget you
there has to be a way to let you go
no more shadows
no dreams of leaning in the dark above you
I will forget how much I love you
any day But every evening shivers
with the chance that you are near
and every morning whispers
he is here
each moment is a fight
not to rush into your light
not to move closer
but to make you disappear

I'll forget you
I've got to find the strength
to pull away from your glow
I'll forget you
God help me see
the way to let you go
I do not want you
and still you steal each breath
I'm breathing from me
with just a touch you overcome me
and I let you
I will forget you
when I die
I will forget you
I will forget you

Nice fit. Is there a link to the music?
