Trader, that's a good point. I think Cat's got some Alpha in her. Look at what happened when they thought Bones was dead in AGE. She stepped up and stood by Mencheres side and assumed co-leadership of the line.
Are there stronger vampires than her in the NH world? Absolutely. I think we all would agree that the strongest vampire in this world is Egyptian. And older than dirt. And may or may not play with rubber duckies in the bathtub.

ok, Cat is still losing...
And if you are looking for something to read before Once Burned is released, I would recommend this historical fiction regarding the life of Vlad Tepes. (before he became the legendary vampire, *snort*) .. it really does a good job of taking known events in his life and puts them together in a very engaging story. I read this last september and really loved it. It's a little bit challenging at the beginning until you know who the characters are, but then the story just really takes off. What an interesting life.
I'm sharing this with you because the kindle version is currently on sale at amazon for $2.51 and its a great read at that price, and it does not take anything away from J's version of Vlad at all. As a matter of fact, I think knowing more about his "real life" enhances J's portrayal of him.

I think both Mencheres and Veritas could kick many asses (including Bones's and Vlad's)! they just have this age bonus!!

I like Cat and think she is one tough piece of work, but...I can't imagine that she could beat Veritas. Heck, I think Bones would have a hard time with her. She hasn't lasted so long and risen to Law Guardian level with out being a formidable fighter.
