But ... she didn't know Bones was the one Mencheres saw in his vision. I bet when Mencheres had the vision Bones hadn't even been born yet. She slept with Bones just to piss off Mencheres. It seems that Mencheres was rather fond of Bones, if you remember how they greeted each other in OFITG and then at the end when Ian said that Mencheres always took Bones' side.

At any rate, she wasn't trying to get Mencheres to kill Bones to stop the prophecy from being fulfilled. She'd have done a LOT more to try to get Bones killed if she'd known who it was.

Also, I'm wondering what kind of "vision" Mencheres had. Was it explicit enough that he saw the people involved in great detail or were the people in his vision kind of faceless - detailed enough that he could tell what was going on but not that he would recognize the people.

Mencheres even mentions that Patra only found out it was Bones that would kill her when Bones married Cat.

At any rate, I think Mencheres could find love again but agree that it would have to be someone very special.

I agree with you, Mencheres doesn't seem like the type to play police and imprison people, quite the opposite actually, he waits until he have to act. So either Gregor is really, really bad or Mencheres had a personal interest. :|
Both options seems...not good. :?

I think he does things out of personal interest, just my impression from the last book.

It might seem like purely personal interest but then we're only working from Cat's point of view. She doesn't really know Mencheres that well. He creeps her out because he's really old and powerful and he can read her mind.

We don't know what visions Mencheres has had. What he knows about the future dictates his actions in the present. Who knows what he's seen?

I agree with Ele.

I really like Mencheres and, like Ele says, we've only been seeing him from Cat's POV, and she's a little biased because mencheres is like a freaking bad omen to her. (he always seems to be around when bad sh*t goes down. ;) lol) But I doubt Bones would throw his lot in with him if he was a bad guy (or doesn't act when he needs to) Personally, I think the thing with Patra was a one-time thing and a cause of all the love he had for her. He loved her enough to kill for her, he let her cheat on him, when his insticts must've been screaming at him to tear apart Bones and Patra both, yet he couldn't.

I think we'll all see a whole new side of him when we get to his book, maybe even in Spade's. Possibly in DFAEG. Mencheres is the oldest character in teh series we know of, and so one of the most powerful vampires we (and cat) know. (Actually, one of the reasons he unsettles her so much is that she hasn't met a vampire she doesn't have the ability to kill yet. She'd stand a very strong chance of taking Bones [not that she would, but she could is my point])
There's so much myystery surrounding him - and we can go deeper into the vampire culture/world that Jeaniene's created. Plus he seems like a good guy.

I DONT THINK SO...Mencheres kinda reminds me Tate in a strange way you know with tate obsessing over cat (which is never going to happen)...I guess under those circumstance i can understand why was hard for him to kill patra, because it just seemed to me that she never really loved him :| ...which says something about mencheres' personality...and maybe cat and bones situation reminds him of-of crap I forgot what i was going to type...how many more days :?...Alright I'm back now Mencheres also doesnt seem like an angry person he seems to be kinda sad actually and also why does he give cat the creeps so much?.. I understand he is powerful and all but she seems to sense something about him?...crap Im blank again...I think Im about to spontaneously combust with waiting 8-)

I think mencheres mention his sire although i dont know if hes dead of alive...in terms of oldest and powerful vampire, but i guess he's not really IN the series...I wonder if mencheres can steal people in their dreams?

I just got a mental picture of all the vamps at a gathering pointing fingers at Bones and yelling altogether like second graders: "Teachers pet, teachers pet!"

I'm going crazy, right? :?

Didn't Patra know that Bones was the one that was going to kill her from the vision that Mencheres had? I thought that.. whatever his name was, the guy that they captured and he was the thing that was pulling the zombies to them, said that he was outside while Bones and Patra , well you know, and that he wanted to kill Bones that night but Patra wouldn't let him.

Does anyone know what time period this book is going to be set in for Mencheres book? Is it before Bones met Cat? Is it when he gets turned? Or is after all the things we have read about thus far? Hmmm, I think I remember reading somewhere that Ms. Frost said that Cat and Bones might make appearances.....

It will be interesting to see things from his point of view, and his Heroine in the book too....

Hi Melissa, you have an awesome name btw.

Maybe she thought she could beat them and that Mencheres was wrong. I'm not too sure about this one though, I think it's needs to go to Jeaniene. ('Questions' forum)

I assume she didn't have him killed because she wanted to play with him and mencheres for that matter. Imagine the satisfaction she would have gotten making Mencheres worry that his favourite 'child' could be killed by the woman he loved. Plus, she wanted Mencheres to KNOW that her and Bones had had sex, and I think it was a test (for Mencheres) to see if he would kill Bones.

Again, I think this one's going to have to go to Jeaniene. :D

I don't think Patra was ever in love with Mencheres because one of the reasons she was angry with him was because she found out he was the one that killed her lover she wanted changed along with her. So really she was never in love with him. If you look at it that way he kind of earned her hatred. Although she really over did it.

I was going directly to the kitchen to fall to my knees in awe before Rodney. Lo and behold, he’d managed to give her a sense of humor, and here I’d figured that would take voodoo, several headless chickens, and a lot of gris-gris. -Cat AGE
