Finally read Biting Cold this weekend! I liked this book very much,

the storyline was really good and all, but one thing did annoy me: what was or better said was not going on between Ethan and Merit! I mean come on, again he was pushing her away and again she had to deal with it and convince him that they should be together and not apart!! I get that Ethan was really scared about his connection with Mallory but he should have had more faith in Merit and it just felt to much of a déjà vu! after DD one thought they would finally be together and then you have to wait over half the book to finally see that!

I hope we get to see in House Rules finally something like a normal relationship between Merit and Ethan! It was really cute that he gave her the key to his apartments!! That was a step in the right direction by him!

He is 400, is the leader of Cadogan and just found out he has been mind f**ked by Merit's BFF. Which, in turn, put's Merit and anyone close to him in danger. I don't blame Ethan for distancing her until he knows the threat is eliminated. But yes, yes, oh my gravy yes, the keys to the apartments hopefully will give us a little more Liege exposure next book. Fingers are crossed.

I understand that he did it to protect her and all, but it just felt too much like in Twice Bitten! My heart really felt for Merit in that scene! I mean he was all Liege in this situation instead of saying stuff like: "I have not forgotten about our "unfinished business"*winkwink*. You mean so much to me but we have to stay apart till this is settled because I'm not willing to risk you getting hurt!" IMO he should have reminded Merit about his feelings for her, but maybe it was just too much for himself right then! He was just back, had this big problem with Darius, the mayor and the old mayor and the mob in the streets! Okay, I get it now, theses are situations when Ethan is in fully Master mode and sets personal issue to the back!
But despite that all it just sucked so much!!

I get it - trust me. I think it's going to take a while to get Ethan over what he's been through. Yes, it would have been a much more satisfactory resolution to all of us loyal, dedicated, drooling Ethan Sullivan fans for him to have a different reaction. But what I remind myself of is that at the end of book four, after they finally had sex and Ethan shoved Merit away because of the effect she had on him, he wisened up after he came very close to losing her. His gift? A baseball and a smartassed comment about how she should have called before she left. Then the arrogant jackass walked away whistling. Sullivan has lived 400 years as a vampire and short of a high dose of UV rays, a stake or a beheading, they are pretty much indestructable. He, however, should know better than most that vampires are, indeed, vulnerable and if the gift of the keys is any clue, I think he is going to act on it. At least I hope so.

Judging from the bits and pieces I have read from Chloe, I think she's planning on an Ethan/Merit HEA. But that's the bad thing about UF. With PNR, we're pretty much guaranteed a HEA for our heroes and heroines. Even if they have to wreck a few pianos, kill would be child-molesting pretend husbands and suffer four years absences to get there. But UF doesn't give us that guarantee. We all need to cross our fingers and hope that Liege and Sentinel get theirs. And hopefully a little physical satisfaction in the next book.
