You have fortitude Jen!! Most people who don't have kids of their own (and some who do) feel that migraine coming after just 5 minutes with kids! It's a guaranteed fact that two or more kids will always take off running in opposite directions.

I totally get what you are all saying, but even Cat had her regrets about never being a mother. At least until she had her experience at Chuck E Cheese.

Chuck E Cheese will make anyone have regrets about children, I swear it's like the 7th circle of hell!

I take back what I said about wanting to see little paranormal offspring, everybody here's right, it would be a horrible, horrible idea. Breastfeeding alone would take on a new and terrible twist and then if they could shapeshift, oh the horror !!! Motherhood is stressful enough. :)
All I want is a warm bed, a kind word and UNLIMITED POWER!

Children really don't belong in the series right now. But when the series finally ends *sobs* they could always look into adoption... ;)

Also, Juan is such a hound that he may have gotten one of his "harem" with child when he was first turned and let loose on the populace (the swimmers are still good for a time  ). Spade & Denise, Bones & Cat could be honorary aunts and uncles to a little half-breed. I can already see Cat teaching the child how to use their uniqueness for good and to kick @ss.

LOL

I think that it would be cool to see how Cat and Bones deal with the trials of parenthood. But not right now I still want more adventures for all the characters.

I was still wondering whatever happened to Cat's cat?

I agree that children don't make a very good fit. Especially since the demon was able to enter Denise's house as a little girl. Plus it is good (just speaking for myself here) for some moms to escape from motherhood for a while, even if it is through a book.

And more than likely, this will be something that brings Cat and Denise closer since they'll both be dealing with the "no biological children" issue. It seems, in human, "mortal" terms anyway, that the natural urge to have kids is prompted by the idea that we'll leave part of us behind after we die and part of us will "go on" for generations to come. But since all of them are "immortal," I don't think this will matter much. And the vampire men from what I understand consider their "lines" to be their "children" per se. But this is an entire dynamic that may be addressed down the road because it's not clear (to me at least) in the "vampire realm," what the rules are (or if any exist) between male and female vampires regarding changing people over...unless I missed something...

But even in RL, some people are just not cut out for parenthood and it's best for them not to go there anyway. It's too life changing in both good and bad ways.

OMG! That's right...I forgot about our horny Juan. That would be crazy! Talk about an incubus in the making.

Children might be nice, but as soon some appears in the story everything is about them.
One reason for me why there should be none in the story of Cat and Bones, because I want
to know something about them and not some children.
As for Denise, as much she wanted to have children, she can have some but in the very last book.

julia123 wrote:Just a thought….Denise had a miscarriage after Randy’s death. She was looking forward to children. Denise tells us that she is menstruating and Spade makes a comment about it as well.

I thought it was interesting that Spade found out about her miscarriage, but he and Denise never discussed it themselves. Spade tells her how he became a vampire and what happened to Gisella, but her miscarriage doesn't come up again (I don't think) Although I don't see them having children in the future I did wonder what it's purpose was. Maybe it served as another layer of guilt for Denise to overcome??
