Inspiration for those little ahem scenes?

Postby elsee » 04 May 2009, 12:50

Dear Jeaniene,

I was just wondering where you got your inspiration for those little ahem scenes (eg chapter 32 of OFITG)? They are genius and fantastic to read but you have a very imaginative and twisted mind to come up with some of them.

Thanks,
Elsee

I treat sex scenes just like fight scenes; I write them as if I were a fly on the wall watching. I try not to let my own personality or moral filter dictate what happens. I try to make sex and fighting scenes true to my characters and how they'd act. Otherwise, I'd want to tone down the violence...or kinks, lol.

There's no special prep for either type of scene, by the way. I don't get angry and practice stabbing things befor fight scenes, and I don't dress up in lingerie and watch Cinemax after eleven before writing sex scenes. :).

Can I ask another sort of personal question? What does your family (parents/partner/siblings) think of those *ahem* scenes (as elsee referred to them :D) I've seen thank you's in other books to family and they've had some ahem scenes in, and I think, I wonder what their parents made of that? I don't think it negatively, I just wonder.

Am I conveying my point properly?
Basically, is it awkward being with your family knowing they've read chapter 32+?

"What does your family (parents/partner/siblings) think of those *ahem* scenes?"

I told my parents/husband/family before I handed them the books that I NEVER wanted to hear their opinion on those scenes :D.

"Is it awkward being with your family knowing they've read chapter 32+?"

Not really. For one, they know it's fiction. I've been married over sixteen years, and I've never drank my husband's blood once during sex (or any other time), lol. I'm not my characters. My books reflect what THEY do, not what I do.
