CONTEST!

Postby Erin » 14 Apr 2008, 22:03

To celebrate the upcoming release of One Foot in the Grave (only 14 days away!), we're having a spread-the-word contest...known officially as the "Bite a Friend Contest!"

The goal of the contest is to spread the love for Jeaniene's books! We want to introduce new people to Halfway to the Grave and/or One Foot in the Grave. The contest starts NOW and ends at midnight of May 4th. Why May 4th? Because that is the Sunday after the release of OFITG, and sales between April 29th and May 4th will determine Jeaniene's rank on the bestseller lists. So if you want to help Jeaniene have a successful release week, buy OFITG between Tuesday and Sunday!

How to Enter the "Bite a Friend Contest"

1. If you have a LiveJournal, MySpace, or blog/website of some sort--then make a post about either or both of the books. Maybe you could say why you loved HTTG, how you're excited about OFITG, or how awesome Jeaniene is! Urge your friends to read the books, and it might also be helpful to add links to either http://www.jeanienefrost.com or http://www.frostfans.com so people can easily find out more information. After you post, send me (Erin) a PM with the link to your post. Note: you only get credit for one post. You can post about Cat and Bones everyday if you like, but it still only counts as one entry. :D

2. Convince a friend to read HTTG or OFITG by simple word of mouth. Unfortunately, it doesn't count if you've already convinced friends to read HTTG in the past--it only counts from this point forward. And since we need proof that your friend actually read it, tell your friend to sign up on the forums and PM me. The friend has to tell me YOU recommended HTTG or OFITG to her/him and tell me their favorite part of the story in order for YOU to get credit in the contest. Note: there is no limit for this type of entry, so tell everyone you know to read the books! :D

Each time you enter the contest (once via posting and unlimited times via friend-telling-me), I will put your name in a hat. On May 5th I will draw a winner and announce it here! The winner receives a copy of One Foot in the Grave...and possibly something else as well. Any suggestions? Would you guys be interested in OFITG t-shirts?

If you have any suggestions OR questions, feel free to post them here for the benefit of all. But remember that entries should be sent to me via PM, not posted here in this thread. Everyone here loves Jeaniene and her books, so get out there and "bite a friend!" Let's make Jeaniene's second novel another NY Times Bestseller! I know we can do it!

What a great contest! Off to my myspace now. I have a question though. My myspace is private so even with the link it wouldn't let you see anything unless you "friended" me?

Ah...good point. I didn't anticipate that problem. I don't have a myspace account--I'm assuming I need one for you to "friend" me, right? I think Marcy might have a myspace acct (Marcy??)...if so, she could check out your post. But if she doesn't--or if you prefer to keep Marcy out of your account, LOL--you could probably just copy your post and paste it into a PM to me. I'll take your word for it. :D Thanks for your interest in the contest!

Is it not possible to make one post not private?

If it is, I don't know how to do it. If Marcy has a myspace I'd have no problem approving her. The only reason I put mine as private was because I have pictures of my kids on my page.

What about Facebook? Although that has many of the same problems as myspace concerning privacy. What about if we have our own book review sites or blogs? Those are fairly public. Could we post there?

Wait a minute.....I already talked my cousin into reading this book, but I know she hasn't yet because she's waiting for OFITG to come and she's planning on reading it closer to the release date. Can I count her?

Yeah, I understand the need for privacy on the internets. I just wondered about myspace -- I have no idea how to use it.

The beautiful and talented Marcy is saving my sanity once again. She's graciously agreed to let me post her MySpace and Facebook links here, in case any of you have private accounts. If you are posting for this contest and want Marcy to verify your entry, please request to be her friend. But as Marcy said, "mention Frost Fans in your friend request, so I will know you aren't SPAM." Very good point. Once Marcy has viewed your post, she'll let me know and I'll add your name to the metaphorical hat. Without further ado, here's her info:
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=518142510
MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/coachswife

Hope that helps you guys out--let us know if there are any problems.

Yes, since she hasn't read the book yet. Tell her to read it and then come on here and PM me with all the details (as described above).

.
Yes. ANY blog (LiveJournal, Blogger, WordPress, MySpace, Facebook, etc etc) OR website that is viewed by at least one more person besides yourself COUNTS as an entry to the contest. If it's a private MySpace or Facebook post, let Marcy know. Otherwise, PM me with the link to the post/site.

Hi! My myspace name is eyes only, my name on here is happiestkat! Happy to be a new member! My blog for the "bite a friend" contest is here: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea ... ID=7863863. I've also lent both my books to my friend Amie Westover, and told her to register on here for this contest... and she called me today to say she was about to start the second book already! So she should be writing in soon to comment and enter for part two for us for this contest!
