Touche Jamie,one of the things I began to realize as the series progressed and Bones' character gets unfolded is that he is a very introverted person when it comes to being hurt.And I think out of all the people he's known in the past Cat hurt him the most with all the screwups she's made over the course of their relationship.Cat is a major weakness to him and if she had cheated with Vlad you're right in a long time he would forgive but he'd never tell her how shaken he was by it.During the scene where they were discussing the terms and conditions in which he'll turn her Cat keeps mentioning how composed he is and that her presence doesnt seem to affect him at all when I think in reality he must be simmering inside.

I think that Bones is the most human non-human out there. You're right Pink, all the male leads are always perfect or they are always crazy sad and depressed all the time. I can't stand that.

I don't know if he was trying to teach Cat a lesson so much as let her realize her going to Gregor meant more than she realized. When she went, it was like saying she didn't trust Bones to take care of her, even though she did. When she went, it was like she was choosing Gregor over Bones, even though she didn't. To Bones, she was undermining everything he stood for, their love, his protection, and she didn't even realize it. Hell I would have done the same thing Cat did just out of fear of losing the love of my life. That is always Cat and Bones's biggest flaws, they always give up everything to protect each other and it's like a battle of, "I'm going to do it better than you!" the whole time. Even when Bones was telling Cat his terms in which he would change her, it was the same thing. They both puff out their chests and neither want to admit they were wrong because they have such strong, stubborn attitudes. So he was forcing her to give in to him and Cat wasn't used to that. She always had a choice until that point and I think that it defines their love. He finally forced her into something and she gave in willingly, though it didn't seem like it to Bones.

Yes when she accepted I'm not sure if Bones translated her reticence in the beginning as not wanting to sleep with him because she thought he cheated on her or because she's formed an attachent with Vlad! I'd love to read into Bones' POV the time they were apart in DFEAG.When she lets him know that she still loves him and feels horrible in the reunion scene his attitude changes completely and he aslo admits[which is something i love about him] that he made the same mistakes she did and he wants another chance with and he's asking her for it.

And in regards to competing with the other over safety I'm glad all the angst is over in TSOTG but 3 books coming who knows if Cat has another breakdown

Bones POV is something I would die for. Especially a uh *cough* "love" scene It would just be interesting to see how he views Cat. We know he loves her, but to see her the way he does would be interesting.

I'm betting he was thinking both. I don't think he could pick which one. "Is it because she thinks I cheated on her, or is it Vlad?" I'm sure he was going back and forth. Probably settled on Vlad if I had my guess

You know, I'm wondering if maybe Bones will be the one to freak out in the next books. Since Cat had hers, I'm thinking it might be him this go 'round.

Jamie,everyone goes through a relapse even though after Cat's character growth in TSOTG it wouldnt make sense but I'd like to see that the flaws that she had in book 1 are still there and she still goes through a freak-out moment where she commits a terrible mistake under pressure like she had so many times during the course of the books.Cat's my favourite fictional heroine and a huge part of that is because she's so flawed and she makes so many mistakes that you can't help but relate and makes the series substantial to us readers even though it's about vampires.

During my first read I focused on Bones so much[I'm sure we all did ]that I missed many of Cat's characteristics but I think I mentioned this before that I'd love to see Bones going nuts especially if he thought Cat was gone the permanent way.She left to go to Gregor and he commited mass execution so that's something I'd want to read from his or Cat's POV.DFAEG is my fav book so far and it's because of how Bones reacted in it so even though I know it's going to be a hardship to read Bones freaking out and making mistakes would be something new for us.

Sorry for rambling too I think most of our past replies are supposed to be under the Bones POV thread?

Okay, this answer will be long and rambling. Re-Bones saying he’d “earned” the right to change Cat. All of you know Bones loves Cat insanely, so that’s a main motivation in pretty much everything he says/does regarding her. But, just like you and me, Bones doesn’t always speak or act with ONLY loving motivations at the forefront, especially in stressful circumstances. And this was very stressful for him. At the time of this conversation, Bones wasn’t sure what Cat felt about him. He thought she’d slept with Vlad. He’d had to manipulate her by risking his life to even get her to leave Vlad’s, in fact, and then he’d had several days to brood about how his former actions had contributed to their separation. Then Cat suddenly shows up talking about changing over, and when Bones questions whether she really wants to do that, Cat throws out (as perceived by Bones in his state of mind) almost a dare that if he doesn’t change her, Vlad will. Vlad - the same arrogant vampire that Bones has a long, less-than-friendly history with and who Bones thinks was, until recently, boinking his wife. The “earned” comment was partially an angry, knee-jerk reaction to the idea of Vlad further cementing his tie to Cat. Remember, Bones wanted to put his marriage back together. Cat getting pulled deeper into Vlad’s world by letting him sire her would be very counterproductive to that. A vampire sire/offspring tie is a serious, permanent one. You know from DFAEG how Cat could feel Bones’s emotions once he’d turned her (unless he deliberately shielded them). He had a strongly negative reaction to the idea of Cat having that permanent, close tie with someone else – especially someone Bones already saw as a rival because he didn’t know yet that Cat hadn’t slept with Vlad. And his reaction was partially territorial. Bones was the person responsible for changing Cat’s entire outlook on vampires, causing her to hunt only the murdering ones, allowing her to stop hating herself for her mixed heritage, etc etc. Turning her was something that meant a lot to Bones, once she was ready for it. He wasn’t about to just roll over and let someone else do it after everything he and Cat had been through.

Well, wow. Some of that I actually thought about at some point. To a degree I also understood what Bones felt during that time. But thank you J (and pink) for giving us that much insight on Bones' feelings. If you see it from his point, everything he did makes perfect sense. I enjoy getting everything from Cats POV, b/ I love how she has grown into the person she is now, but I also know that some actions can't be easily explained and some motives can't be seen at all with that single POV we get. That' why I always adore the NH-world books and when J shares some things like that with us. So again - thank you! (:
