Yep, Jackie tries to keep the reviews spoiler free. I"m reading BC now....and oooh yeah. I got about 1/2 through, I had to get some answers, so skipped to ending. It's how I read LOL. Now, to go back and fit some pieces back together. I will say Biting Cold reads more like the first few books in the series and I'm much more pleased now with the writing, where I had been kinda "meh" on the last 2 books.

Good news! Nothing against Chloe, but I felt that the last two books were a teensy bit flat as well. Glad to hear you're liking BC so far. And I am like you, I have to peek as well. :)

ooh, I am jealous of the advance copies that seem to be everywhere except my little paws. ;) Maybe you could post the answers to our burning questions under a mega-spoiler bar? Or would the author descend upon the forum with a mob of supporters wielding pitchforks and torches (or worse - lawyers?) :D Well, at least I know I'm not alone in peeking at endings and skipping chapters. For me, I have to know or I start growling and muttering obscenities at the characters.

Ooh the review,
Spoiler: show
" Fans will be screaming in their seats" I will be seriously frustrated if after all this Merit end up back at square 1 with Ethan etc. so he keeps over thinking things, afraid others may come after Merit to get to him and Cadogan. She is sentinel and ready to defend the House.....

Mallory-I hope she is redeemable, the true friend who tried to help Merit adjust the her new life. But when she herself was adjusting to being a magic user, she kept Merit at arms length. Hope that can change over the next few books

Don't shoot me, but
Spoiler: show
at this point, Mallory is #2 on my hated female characters (right behind Patra). She would have to cure cancer, end world hunger and make rainbows fly out of her...well, never mind, before I like her again. And even then, it would be touchy.

*sigh* ladies I promise BC will be worth the wait. You will get answers to your questions. I'm not about to post spoilers until after the release and peeps have had a chance to read. If you've read it and want to gab, PM me :). Eng, I completely agree with you. I very much feel that Chloe has redeemed her writing with BC. I read her YA series, too and I think it may be an unfortunate pattern with her "middle of the series" books, as her last YA release was one of those "filler" books. Meaning the entire book was setting up for events in future releases. It's frustrating but sometimes necessary in a series to do this.

Now I'm having a brain lapse. Are there 9 Chicagoland books currently slated or just 7? I can't remember

I believe there is supposed to be 10. Good to hear you felt the writing improved with BC!
